Do you manage private land for conservation?
The Kowree Private Conservancy Network came about in 2018, in a bid for like-minded landholders to share best practice in conservation on private land. The group is for people who either own and/or manage and/or are interested in private land set aside for conservation in or near the Wimmera district (including adjacent parts of SA). While land ownership is not a pre-requisite for membership, we are mainly either farmers with some parts of our farms set aside for conservation, or owners of conservation blocks.
Every year the KPCN has two gatherings on different properties. The first gathering, held in May, follows the annual Red-tail Black Cockatoo Count. The following Sunday members gather on a near-by property to share information and hear from a guest speaker about a topic relevant to conservation management. The Spring Gathering, held in late September or early October, is a weekend long camp, during which members might travel to several properties and hear from one or two guest speakers about topics to improve conservation practices on their properties.
If you would like to find out more about the work that KPCN members have been doing you can go to our Members Case studies page and read about the conservation work they do on their own properties.
In Kowree Private Conservancy Network catch ups we often have interesting discussions about things that have or haven't worked on each others properties. In order to share these discussions more freely we have created a blog called KPCN conversations, where members can share information. There is a comment section below each article to assist people in asking questions or to continue sharing relevant information. We also have a KPCN resources section where members have shared a collection of resources they have found helpful.
If you are interested in joining the Kowree Private Conservancies Network (KPCN) or would like more information please submit an enquiry below or you can contact:
